شاركت نقابة المهندسين العراقية، في فعالية إطلاق الأعمال التنفيذية ووضع حجر الأساس لمشروع إنشاء مائة (100) وحدة سكنية ميسّرة الكلفة وصديقة للبيئة، إضافة إلى مركز لتكنولوجيا البناء الأخضر في مدينة الموصل، ضمن مشروع بناء التحول العادل والشامل (بيت – BEIT)، الممول من الاتحاد الأوروبي (وبإشراف بعثته الى العراق) والمنفذ من قبل برنامج الأمم المتحدة للمستوطنات البشرية (موئل الأمم المتحدة – UN-Habitat).
ومثّل النقابة في الفعالية المهندس الاستشاري يحيى سامي، مسؤول محفظة الشراكات والتعاون الدولي وعضو لجنة النشاط الثقافي في النقابة، ضمن حضور ضم الحكومة المحلية لمحافظة نينوى بحضور محافظ نينوى السيد عبد القادر الدخيل، والمنسق المقيم للأمم المتحدة بالإنابة في العراق السيد بيتر هوكنز، ومدير برنامج موئل الأمم المتحدة في العراق السيد مسلم الكاظمي، إلى جانب ممثلين عن وزارة التخطيط ووزارة الإعمار والإسكان ووزارة الهجرة والمهجرين ووزارة البيئة والجهات الحكومية والمحلية ذات العلاقة.
وسبق مراسم وضع حجر الأساس اجتماع رسمي في ديوان محافظة نينوى لمناقشة انطلاق المشروع وآفاق دعمه لقطاع الإسكان المستدام، فيما يُنفذ المشروع بالشراكة مع الجهات الوطنية والدولية المعنية، من بينها منظمة العمل الدولية ومركز التجارة الدولية والحكومة المحلية في نينوى.
وتأتي هذه المشاركة امتداداً لمسار التعاون المؤسسي الذي تطوره نقابة المهندسين العراقية مع بعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى العراق وموئل الأمم المتحدة، والذي شهد في 11 آب / أغسطس 2026 توقيع مذكرة نوايا بين النقابة و برنامج الأمم المتحدة للمستوطنات البشرية (موئل الأمم المتحدة – UN-Habitat)، بحضور بعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي، لدعم قدرات المهندسين العراقيين في مجالات الإسكان الميسور والبناء الأخضر والتشييد المستدام.
وتواصل نقابة المهندسين العراقية، من خلال محفظة الشراكات والتعاون الدولي، متابعة هذا المسار وتوسيع الشراكات المهنية والفنية مع الجهات الدولية، وتحويلها إلى تعاون عملي ومستدام يدعم المهندسين العراقيين ويعزز حضور النقابة كشريك مؤسسي في المبادرات الوطنية والدولية ذات الصلة بالهندسة والإسكان والتنمية المستدامة.

Iraqi Engineers Union Participates in the Launch of BEIT Project Implementation in Mosul
The Iraqi Engineers Union – General Headquarters in Baghdad participated on Monday, 14 September 2026, in the launch of implementation works and the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of one hundred (100) affordable and environmentally friendly housing units, in addition to a Green Building Technology Centre in Mosul, under the Building Equitable and Inclusive Transformation (BEIT) project, funded by the European Union, under the oversight of the Delegation of the European Union to Iraq, and implemented by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
The IEU General Headquarters was represented at the event by Consulting Engineer Yahya Sami, Director of the International Partnerships and Cooperation Portfolio and Member of the Cultural Activities Committee. The event brought together the local government of Ninewa Governorate, including Ninewa Governor Mr. Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil, Acting United Nations Resident Coordinator in Iraq Mr. Peter Hawkins, UN-Habitat Iraq Programme Manager Mr. Muslim Al-Kazimi, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, the Ministry of Environment, and other relevant governmental and local institutions.
The groundbreaking ceremony was preceded by an official meeting at the Ninewa Governorate headquarters to discuss the launch of the project and its prospects for supporting the sustainable housing sector. The project is being implemented in partnership with relevant national and international stakeholders, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the Ninewa local government.
This participation represents a continuation of the institutional cooperation being developed by the Iraqi Engineers Union with the Delegation of the European Union to Iraq and UN-Habitat. This cooperation reached an important milestone on 11 August 2026 with the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Iraqi Engineers Union and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), in the presence of the EU Delegation to Iraq, to support the capacities of Iraqi engineers in the fields of affordable housing, green building, and sustainable construction.
Through its International Partnerships and Cooperation Portfolio, the IEU General Headquarters continues to advance this track, expand professional and technical partnerships with international entities, and translate them into practical and sustainable cooperation that supports Iraqi engineers and strengthens the Union’s institutional role in national and international initiatives related to engineering, housing, and sustainable development.
