نظّمت لجنة النشاط الثقافي في نقابة المهندسين العراقية الجلسة التحضيرية الأولى لمبادرة “نادي المهندسين توستماسترز”، بمشاركة نحو ٤٠ مهندسًا، من الخريجين القدماء والجدد والمهندسين الشباب، إلى جانب زملائهم من توستماسترز العراق.
وشهدت الجلسة حضور ممثلي النقابة في التخطيط والتنظيم، حيث شارك المهندس يحيى سامي في التخطيط والإشراف على تنفيذ الجلسة اضافة لكونه أحد المتحدثين فيها، فيما ألقى الدكتور حسين مهدي، نائب رئيس لجنة النشاط الثقافي، الكلمة الافتتاحية ممثلاً عن نقابة المهندسين العراقية.
وتضمنت الجلسة فقرات تعريفية بمنهج وأدوار توستماسترز التنظيمية، إلى جانب مسابقات تفاعلية وتمارين عملية في التقييم البنّاء، تهدف لتعزيز مهارات التواصل والحديث أمام الجمهور.
وعبّر المشاركون عن رضاهم عن التجربة، واصفين إياها بأنها نشاط مختلف وحيوي كسر النمط التقليدي، ووفّر مساحة عملية لتطوير مهارات التواصل باللغة الإنجليزية والقيادة وبناء الثقة بالنفس.
أشاد السيد نقيب المهندسين العراقيين المهندس الاستشاري ذو الفقار حوشي بهذه المبادرة النوعية، ووجه بكون هذه الجلسة خطوة تحضيرية تتبعها جلسات مستقبلية مماثلة لتقييم مستوى الإقبال والالتزام والقيمة المضافة للمهندسين والنقابة، تمهيداً لاتخاذ القرار المؤسسي بشأن تأسيس “نادي المهندسين توستماسترز” ورعايته رسمياً.

The Cultural Activities Committee (CAC) held the First Preparatory Session for the “Engineers Toastmasters Club” Initiative
The Cultural Activities Committee (CAC) at the Iraqi Engineers Union (IEU) organized the first preparatory session for the “Engineers Toastmasters Club (ETM)” initiative on Saturday, 27 December 2025, with the participation of around 40 engineers, including senior and newly graduated engineers and young professionals, alongside their colleagues from Toastmasters Iraq clubs.
The session was attended by the Union’s representatives involved in planning and organization. Eng. Yahya Sami contributed to the planning and supervision of the session’s implementation and also participated as one of the speakers. Dr. Hussain Mahdi, CAC Deputy Head, delivered the opening word on behalf of the IEU.
The session included introductory segments on the Toastmasters approach and meeting roles, in addition to interactive contests and practical exercises in constructive evaluation, aiming to strengthen communication skills and public speaking confidence.
Participants expressed their satisfaction with the experience, describing it as a fresh, innovative and dynamic activity that broke the usual pattern and provided a practical space to develop English communication skills, leadership, and self-confidence.
The IEU President, Consultant Engineer Thulfiqar Hoshi endorsed this quality activity, and confirmed that this session is a preparatory step, to be followed by similar activities in the coming period to assess attendance, commitment, and value added to both young engineers and the IEU, before making the institutional decision on officially establishing and sponsoring the Engineers Toastmasters Club (ETM).
