استضافت نقابة المهندسين العراقية، الجلسة الرسمية الأولى لنادي المهندسين توستماسترز (Engineers Toastmasters Club – ETC)، التي أُقيمت تحت عنوان «الهندسة في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي».
وشهدت الجلسة مشاركة أكثر من 60 مهندساً ومهنياً وطالباً من طلبة المراحل النهائية في كليات الهندسة، وأُديرت بالكامل باللغة الإنجليزية وفق منهج توستماسترز العالمي.
وتضمّن برنامج الجلسة خطباً مُعدّة مسبقاً، وأحاديث ارتجالية مرتبطة بموضوعها، إلى جانب التقييمات المنظّمة والتصويت وإعلان الفائزين، ضمن بيئة تفاعلية تهدف إلى تطوير مهارات التواصل والقيادة والخطابة والتحدث أمام الجمهور.
وناقشت الجلسة دور المهندس في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي، والمسؤولية المهنية والأخلاقية، ومستقبل التعليم الهندسي، وحدود الاعتماد على التقنيات الحديثة، فضلاً عن المهارات الإنسانية والمهنية التي لا يمكن الاستغناء عنها في العمل الهندسي.
كما جرى اختيار المهندس الاستشاري يحيى سامي الطائي، عضو لجنة النشاط الثقافي في النقابة، ليكون أول رئيس للنادي.
وفي ختام الجلسة، أُعلنت أسماء الفائزين، إذ حصلت المهندسة آلاء لهيب على لقب أفضل خطيبة في الخطب المُعدّة مسبقاً، فيما نالت المهندسة نور حسين لقب أفضل متحدثة في الحديث الارتجالي، وحصلت طالبة الهندسة مروج الحداد على لقب أفضل مقيّمة.
ويهدف نادي المهندسين توستماسترز إلى توفير مساحة مهنية للمهندسين والخريجين الجدد وطلبة المراحل النهائية والمهنيين الشباب، تسهم في تنمية مهاراتهم في التواصل والقيادة واللغة الإنجليزية، وبناء مجتمع هندسي أكثر تفاعلاً وارتباطاً بنقابة المهندسين العراقية.

Iraqi Engineers Union Hosts the First Official Session of the Engineers Toastmasters Club
The Iraqi Engineers Union hosted the first official session of the Engineers Toastmasters Club (ETC) on Saturday, 12 September 2026, at Baghdad Hall, IEU Headquarters, under the theme “Engineering in the AI Era.”
The session attracted strong interest, with more than sixty (60) engineers, young professionals, fresh graduates, and senior-year students participating in person.
Conducted entirely in English, following the Toastmasters meeting format, the session featured prepared speeches, Table Topics (improvised/impromptu speeches), structured evaluations, voting, and awards, providing participants with a practical environment to strengthen communication, leadership, and public-speaking skills.
Consultant Engineer Yahya Sami Al-Taie (International Cooperation and Partnerships Portfolio Director, Cultural Activities Committee member, and elected member of the IEU General Council for the current electoral cycle) was named as the first Presiding Officer (president) for the Engineers Toastmasters Club (ETC).
The discussions explored the engineer’s role in the AI era, professional judgment and ethics, the future of engineering education, responsible use of emerging technologies, and the human skills that remain essential as engineering tools continue to evolve.

The Engineers Toastmasters Club is being developed as a professional space for engineers, fresh graduates, senior-year students, and young professionals to strengthen their communication, leadership, English-language, and professional networking skills while building a more engaged engineering community around the Iraqi Engineers Union (IEU).
This marks the beginning of a new professional track within the IEU, a sustained approach that goes beyond a single meeting.
