نقيب المهندسين يبحث تعزيز التعاون مع موئل الأمم المتحدة والاتحاد الأوروبي ويوقّع مذكرة نوايا

استقبل السيد نقيب المهندسين العراقيين، المهندس الاستشاري ذوالفقار حوشي المكصوصي، وفداً من برنامج الأمم المتحدة للمستوطنات البشرية (موئل الأمم المتحدة – UN-Habitat)، وبعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى العراق، لبحث آفاق التعاون المشترك في مجالات التدريب وبناء القدرات وتعزيز المهارات والخبرات الهندسية.

وضم وفد موئل الأمم المتحدة السيد ماركوس توديهوب، مدير البرنامج، والمهندس معن سامي، مسؤول البرنامج، فيما مثّل بعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي المهندس علي الناصري، مدير برامج التنمية الاقتصادية والطاقة والبنى التحتية والتحول الرقمي.

وحضر اللقاء نائب النقيب، الدكتور زيد عز الدين محمد نوري، والمهندس الاستشاري يحيى سامي، مسؤول محفظة الشراكات والتعاون الدولي وعضو لجنة النشاط الثقافي في النقابة.

وناقش اللقاء آفاق التعاون ضمن مشروع التحول الشامل والعادل (بيت – BEIT)، الممول من الاتحاد الأوروبي، إلى جانب تنفيذ برامج تدريبية متخصصة في مجالات الإسكان الميسور والبناء الأخضر والتشييد المستدام، مع إمكانية تطويرها إلى برامج لتدريب المدربين وإعداد ملاكات وطنية قادرة على نقل المعرفة.

وأكد السيد النقيب حرص النقابة على تعزيز التعاون مع المبادرات الدولية التي تسهم في تطوير قدرات المهندسين وتنظيم الممارسة الهندسية، مشيراً إلى أهمية الشراكات التي تتيح للمهندسين العراقيين الاطلاع على الخبرات والتقنيات والأساليب المتطورة والارتقاء بمهاراتهم المهنية.

من جانبه، أكد ممثل بعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي أهمية التعاون القائم مع النقابة والعمل على توسيعه، فيما أشار وفد موئل الأمم المتحدة إلى الاستعداد لتنفيذ برامج التدريب وبناء القدرات في القريب العاجل، بما يعزز دور النقابة شريكاً مهنياً في مشروع (بيت).

وفي ختام اللقاء، وقّع المهندس ذوالفقار حوشي المكصوصي، عن نقابة المهندسين العراقية، والسيد ماركوس توديهوب، عن برنامج الأمم المتحدة للمستوطنات البشرية، مذكرة نوايا، بحضور ممثل بعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي، بهدف تطوير شراكة مستدامة تدعم المهندسين العراقيين، ولا سيما الخريجين الجدد والشباب، وتعزز جاهزيتهم لسوق العمل.

President of the Iraqi Engineers Union Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with UN-Habitat and the European Union, and Signs a Letter of Intent

The President of the Iraqi Engineers Union, Consulting Engineer Thulfiqar Hoshi Al-Makssousi, received a delegation from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Delegation of the European Union to Iraq to discuss prospects for joint cooperation in the fields of training, capacity building, and strengthening engineering skills and expertise.

The UN-Habitat delegation included Mr. Marcus Tudehope, Programme Manager, and Mr. Maan Sami, Programme Officer, while the Delegation of the European Union was represented by Eng. Ali Al-Naseri, Programmes Manager for Economic Development, Energy, Infrastructure, and Digital Transformation.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President of the Iraqi Engineers Union, Dr. Zaid Ezz Al-Deen Mohammed Nouri, and Consulting Engineer Yahya Sami, Director of the International Partnerships and Cooperation Portfolio and Member of the Cultural Activities Committee at the Union.

The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation under the EU-funded Building Equitable and Inclusive Transformation (BEIT) project, in addition to the implementation of specialized training programmes in affordable housing, green building, and sustainable construction, with the possibility of developing them into Training of Trainers programmes to prepare national cadres capable of transferring knowledge.

The President of the Union affirmed the Union’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international initiatives that contribute to developing the capacities of engineers and regulating engineering practice. He also highlighted the importance of partnerships that enable Iraqi engineers to engage with advanced expertise, technologies, and approaches, and to further develop their professional skills.

For his part, the representative of the Delegation of the European Union emphasized the importance of the existing cooperation with the Union and the need to further expand it. The UN-Habitat delegation also expressed its readiness to implement training and capacity-building programmes in the near future, in a manner that strengthens the Union’s role as a professional partner in the BEIT project.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Iraqi Engineers Union, on behalf of the Union, and Mr. Marcus Tudehope, on behalf of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, signed a Letter of Intent in the presence of the representative of the Delegation of the European Union. The Letter of Intent aims to develop a sustainable partnership that supports Iraqi engineers, particularly fresh graduates and young professionals, and enhances their readiness for the labour market.
