Senior IT Network Operations Engineer

Purpose

This role is responsible for the operational integrity of the data network and provision of ‘hands-on’ support for the corporate data network for fault coordination and diagnosis and hardware replacement when required. In addition to the above, the Transformation & Integration of Retained Information Systems. The scope of responsibility will also give greater attention to the application of security controls.

Responsibilities

• Design and commission LANs, WANs, wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, Access Points, Voice gateways, Video Conferencing units and other network hardware.
• Responsible for the execution of IT network operation controls across the landscape.
• Staging, documenting, and executing network designs, configurations, and related procedures.
• Development of IT network policies and procedures, for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
• Auditing and securing network systems by establishing and enforcing global access control and security policies.
• Providing onsite support to remote sites.
• Lead the troubleshooting of network related issues as required
• Lead the resolution and root cause analysis of all network incidents and problems. This includes network services provided through various service providers
• Produce metric reports covering utilization, availability etc while proactively alerting on network interventions when required.
• Drive the service and transition management activities for the operationalization of network projects.
• Support Field Telecoms activities and deliverables
• Support Vendors and Global ISPs

Qualifications

• Valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Security, design, or Voice Certification
• Certification/knowledge in ARUBA technologies is a plus
•  degree in Electronic or Communications Engineering.
• Skilled use of service desk systems and IT tools in line with to ITIL
• Skilled in the use of a wide range of network configuration protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP, BGP, VRF, GRE, Spanning tree etc.
